A member’s role and seat control different things. The role determines which workspace areas and settings the member can access. The seat determines which usage capacity or credit allocation is available to that member under the active subscription. An administrator can have a low-usage seat, and a member with a limited role can have a higher-usage seat.

Check available seat types

Open Admin > Members or Admin > Usage to see the seat types currently offered in your workspace. Names, included credits, and eligibility are set by the active Counso subscription; do not infer them from a different workspace or an older plan description. Some subscriptions allocate usage to each member. Others use a shared workspace pool. If the workspace uses pooled usage, the seat may control access to the workspace rather than provide a separate personal allowance. Assign or change a seat

When inviting a member, choose both a workspace role and a seat if the invitation form asks for them. Available options depend on the subscription and the seats already assigned. Before sending the invitation, check the seat and billing summary shown by Counso. Administrators can review members in Admin > Members and manage seat assignments from the member row or the usage controls in Admin > Usage. If the current workspace uses assigned-seat access, a member without a seat may remain listed but cannot send messages or interact with Agents until a seat is assigned. Check the member status and product message before changing their role or re-inviting them. Seat changes can take effect at different times and may affect the next invoice. The confirmation panel is the source of truth for when access changes, whether a change is immediate, and any billing adjustment. Read it before confirming a change or removing a seat.

Upgrade requests

If Upgrade request appears in Admin > Usage > Settings, an administrator can enable it so a member who reaches a usage limit can ask for a different seat instead of being blocked without a next step. Review pending requests in the Members section’s Requests tab, if available. Approve a request only after checking the member’s work requirements and the billing effect shown in Counso.

Billing cycles and unassigned seats

Monthly and annual billing options, if offered, can have different rules for adding or unassigning seats. Use the current subscription summary to check the billing period, effective date, proration, and whether a released seat can be reassigned.
